BUSTING THE MYTH
Entering her daughter's school on the annual day as a chief guest of honour, Shirleen was proud of being a single mother and for breaking the stereotype in the vengeful society which always discriminated against women. Shirleen, a lady of 32, confident and beautiful, and a proud single mother was the District Magistrate who in-spite of being a respectable civil servant was still judged by the society for bringing up her daughter single-handedly. But this never bothered her anymore. She was done with the world, and her only happiness was her daughter.
Shirleen was orphaned at a very young age but was brought up by a distant relative of her mother. When in her college days she used to share her room with her friend in the college hostel who later became a very important part of her life. A good soul her friend was but fate wasn't so good to her and one ominous day she encountered something that would change the lives of both the girls. Diya, Shirleen's friend was in love with a man who promised to marry her very soon. She wanted to take her relationship to the next level and so trustingly she gave herself to him. Not aware of the outcomes Diya used to spend most of the nights with him until one day when she got to know that she was pregnant. Diya's boyfriend strictly rejected her claim of being the child's father and on the contrary accused her of being in several other relationships whose outcome was the child. Both the girls sought it best to get an abortion done as it was the only way they had and it wouldn't even include Diya's father. But fate had something else planned. Diya was already in the advanced stage and aborting would have meant risking her life. Diya had lost her mother at a tender age and was raised by her father who later remarried. And as it goes, she was neglected and at last sent to a hostel for her further studies. Shirleen and Diya both faced rough childhood and could feel each other's pain. Hence, the girls decided to have the baby. And the baby came into this world and she was a girl. But her birth claimed her mother's life. Diya was no more. Shirleen thought it rational to give up the baby to an orphanage since it was impossible for her to raise her all alone. Also, the societal pressures of being a single mother made her make the decision. But, little Diya was destined to have a good life.

Shirleen is a proud mother today. Her daughter has been her only support in this cruel world. Shirleen couldn't give up on little Diya that day because she knew the life of an orphan. It was on that day she decided to give her daughter the best life which she can provide and in this way she would have also proved her friendship to her beloved friend. Shirleen went through a lot but her Godfather never let her down. Eventually, Shirleen got a family of her own, an uncle who was her Godfather supporting her through all ups and downs and a pretty daughter who was her pride and a proper respectable life dedicated to the people of her motherland.
Walking down the aisle with a bouquet in her hand Shirleen was on the top of the world because being a mother was the biggest gift she ever received in her life. Just a smile on her little one's face was the most precious gift to her, being a MOTHER was.
This is for all the MOTHERS in the world who can do everything just to bring a smile on their little ones' face...
