Stolen Childhood

Hopeful eyes, million dreams and happy smiles
Is this not the identity of a child? 
Then why do I see
Terrified faces and shattered dreams?


There is so much to learn, to accomplish
Then why the children are
Deprived of their childhood, 
Overloaded with work, 
Burdened with responsibility, 
At such a young age? 

There is much to change in nation, 
There is much to develop in county. 
Then why do I see
Tear filled eyes and rough hands? 


The future of the country is
Now in the hands of youngsters
Then why the children are
Treated as slaves?  

Alas!  Poor children!  Poor future! 
It's sad to see the children
In such a miserable, terrible, 
And horrible condition too. 


Put a smile back on their face, 
Give them the childhood, 
Give them the opportunity of education, 
That was stolen from them. 
Fight for a cause, 
Raise your voice
Against child labour
