NOSTALGIA

It was a hot sunny day in the month of April. A grey BMW suddenly stopped in front of an old school. A man stepped out perfectly dressed in a suit. He lit up a cigarette and exhaled the smoke in disgust. The toxic smoke curled up and at last, was consumed by Mother Nature. He was observing the process for quite a long time and suddenly a series of memories flashed back and front in his mind.

               He remembered those golden days of his childhood, especially those days in school, how much he cried the moment his mother left him for the first time in school. He looked around and saw hundred more crying faces like him until someone held his hand with a smiling face, and from that moment he knew that boy is unique among others. He was Rohan Verma. He remembered, how they become best buddies in school until five and suddenly with the passage of time, everything changed. Rohan was much of an optimist. He loved everything, remained cheerful all the time, fairly bothered about his studies, always trying to follow his passion. Actually, he unlocked the key to life at a very early age, to enjoy life in every possible way. On the other hand, Ayush (me) was more of a sceptic. Always following the rules and regulations, proper studies, topper in school, bookworm, nerd. So slowly we grew apart.

             "What am I doing right now?" I questioned myself being conscious. Passing deals day after day, making my bosses richer day by day, getting appreciated for my work, Best Employee of the year award, working on Sundays, is it what life is all about? I remembered some photos which Rohan had uploaded a few months back on Facebook. He was at Rio de Janeiro, enjoying the famous festival celebrated all over Brazil. He is a renounced photographer now. Always following his passion as I told you.

              I remembered another incident from the past. It was the last day at school, the day when we got our results in our hand. I was a bit disappointed with my result, I only got 92%. I looked towards Rohan and saw him in his cheerful world as usual. I walked towards him and asked for his result. He had got 73%. He didn't ask about my result but those words which he spoke after that looking at my face still echoes in my ears. He told, "Go get a life first."

             I checked my watch. Oh shit !! I'm getting late for work now. I went to my car and drove fast. It's time to return to the world of the deads now.
