New Year Resolutions

(Photo: Google pics)
So are you all up with your new year resolutions? With the new year 2019 just knocking at the door...more or less each one of us is ready with lots of new promises...challenges to take up and pursue...

The concept of new year resolutions dates back to the ancient decades....and the first people to start this idea were the ancient Babylonians....their new year used to start in March after the harvesting of crops..and their resolutions were usually prayers offered to god...so that they could pay off their debts in the next ensuing year. Then the Christians continued the practice of new year resolutions but with not the exact grounds as it was started....the Christians started to pray to god and promise to pay off their debts to god...by serving the helpless.

Though the concept of new year resolutions has its roots completely in the religious ground..with changing times the kind of resolutions that people make have changed drastically and have become extensively secular....nowadays most of the people who resolve on the eve of new year...make promises to themselves...such as losing weight...staying fit...managing debts..buying homes and cars......   and even more interestingly only 8 percent of people who make resolutions succeed in keeping it....so you see how difficult it is to keep promises and needs so much attention concentrations and effort and hard work that we can hardly afford in our technical lifestyles.. but as your friend philosopher and guide I can definitely suggest some ways by which you can achieve your new year resolutions...

  1. Write down your resolutions clearly in a paper and stick it in front of your work desk so that maximum of the time it remains in front of your eyes allowing you to focus on it and it will never be out of your mind
  2. Set achievable goals..so that it is realistic and there are practical ways to achieve it..setting improbable goals will only keep you away from your targets depressing you...
  3. Do not set too many goals at one go...select the goals according to their priority and concentrate on fulfilling only one at a time
  4. Do not flaunt about your targets beforehand in front of everyone and speak about it only after its fulfilment
  5. Patience is the ultimate key to the achievement of resolutions.. across the year there will be numerous instances when completion of your target may seem improbable..but you need to keep patient and not let yourself be diverted from the path...☺☺

From this very small issue of new year resolution, we can deduce how the values have changed in our society. Earlier people used to prioritize their friends family fellow humans whereas now the centre of every attention remains only in SELF...People in the recent era do not much think about others and focus on well-being success and prosperity of own self...

Also we see how in earlier ages..moral values and abstract emotions such as kindness loyalty and affection used to matter more...and now only materialistic values....such as outer beauty..money..material assets are on top of priority list for most people...this becomes clear from the type of resolutions that are in the trend.

Though none of the opinions deserves appreciation or criticism ....yet we only get to see shifting paradigms of lifestyle and thoughts in accordance with time....but somewhere deep down in our heart we much realise that festivities like the new year where the world welcomes an entirely new year with loads of expectations and happiness....sharing of happiness is the most important part...because these festivities were initiated with the objective of bringing people closer and instilling harmony between all....

Whatever may be your resolution...just take few minutes to retrospect that isn't it the greatest resolution to be a little more useful to the world and it's people in the next year..isn't it worth to resolve to  bring smile to the faces of those slum children...isn't it worth to resolve to be helpful to the poor and underprivileged....isn't it worth to resolve to be kind to the street animals...

RESOLVE TO BE BETTER HUMAN BEINGS IN THE NEXT YEAR.....
